Cancer Council
Prostate Cancer

It is estimated that more than 25,400 males were diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2023 in Australia. The average age at diagnosis is 70 years old. Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia, and it is estimated that one in six males will be diagnosed by the time they are 85. After finding out you have prostate cancer, you may feel shocked, upset, anxious or confused. These are normal responses. Talk about your treatment options with your doctor, family and friends. Ask questions and seek as much information as you need. It is up to you as to how involved you want to be in making decisions about your treatment.
